The New York Mets’ unexpected postseason run in 2024 came to an end when they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

After eliminating the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies as underdogs, the Mets fell one round short of appearing in the World Series for the first time since 2015.

As the offseason gets underway, the Mets announced that one of their starting outfielders recently had multiple surgeries.

“Tyrone Taylor underwent an umbilical hernia repair on October 30 with Dr. Venkata Evani in Phoenix, AZ. He also underwent a right elbow loose body removal yesterday with Dr. James Carr in New York. The average return to play timelines for these procedures is approximately two months,” the Mets wrote on X.

Taylor came into the league in 2019 with the Brewers and was in his first season with the Mets.

He played 130 games in the regular season where he batted .248 with seven home runs, 35 RBIs and a .701 OPS.

Taylor played in all 13 games this postseason and batted .162 with six hits, six runs scored, one RBI and a .512 OPS.

It appears Taylor should be ready for spring training if he recovers in the average return-to-play timeline for these procedures.

The Mets made the postseason for only the second time in the past eight seasons but were able to win two series against teams that were expected to defeat them.

With only two World Series titles in franchise history (1969, 1986), the Mets will look to make some moves this offseason to make another run at a title in 2025.
