The New York Mets appeared in their first National League Championship Series since losing in the World Series in 2015.
After the long and unexpected postseason run, the Mets went into the offseason and made a splash by signing free agent Juan Soto from the New York Yankees to a 15-year deal worth $765 million.
The Mets made other acquisitions as well, including pitchers Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas, and outfielder Jose Siri.
While the Mets have made plenty of significant moves this offseason, they have yet to resolve the situation with free agent first baseman Pete Alonso.
One MLB analyst recently called out Alonso to make a decision.
“The choice is his, but the ending to this saga always seemed like it was painted in orange and blue. It’s time for Alonso to accept that his destiny is calling him back to Queens,” Deesha Thosar said, via FOX Sports: MLB.
With his options dwindling in free agency, it’s long past time for Pete Alonso to decide what is most important: his legacy or his contract.

It appears Alonso hasn’t signed yet due to him wanting more money than any team is willing to give him.
With the 2025 season right around the corner, Thosar said Alonso should just come back to the Mets.
Alonso has played all six seasons of his MLB career for the organization, and in 2024 the fan favorite played in all 162 games and batted .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBIs and a .788 OPS.
Many people thought Alonso would be back with the Mets in 2025 all along, so it will be something to watch to see how it all plays out.
