Most baseball fans are aware of how bad the Chicago White Sox were in 2024 as they broke the record for most losses in a season in the modern baseball era with 121.
While the White Sox were by far the worst team in baseball, it was only four seasons ago that they won the AL Central with a 93-69 record.
The White Sox need to make some major changes if they want to get back to that competitive level.
To do so, they reportedly are willing to part with arguably their most popular and skillful player.
“The White Sox would ‘love to’ trade Luis Robert Jr., per Bob Nightengale (of USA Today),” B/R Walk-Off wrote on X.
Robert has been a standout player for the White Sox since coming into the league in 2020.
The 2023 All-Star and Silver Slugger winner struggled, like the rest of the team, in 2024.
In 100 games, Robert batted .224 with 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and a .657 OPS.
The drop-off is significant as in 2023 he played in 145 games and batted .264 with 38 home runs, 80 RBIs and a .857 OPS.
Nightengale reports that the White Sox may look to trade Robert this offseason for a package of players.
The White Sox have lost 20 more games each season since 2022 when they had an 81-81 record, and this is likely rock bottom for the team.
It would be hard to get much worse than the 2024 White Sox, and now they will try to rebuild and get back to a competitive level as soon as possible.
