The 2024 Atlanta Braves aren’t as good as their 2023 edition.
There is no shame in that: not every team is capable of winning 104 games with ease.
However, the situation is starting to become worrisome in Atlanta, as they lost their fifth straight game on Wednesday.
They dropped three straight games against the Washington Nationals and two against the Baltimore Orioles, with the finale coming on Thursday.
If Atlanta doesn’t win, it will be swept by the O’s.
The five-game losing streak breaks a historic run by the Braves, detailed by MLB stats expert Sarah Langs.
“The Braves went 934 games between 5+ game losing streaks. That’s the 2nd-longest such streak in MLB history, behind only: the Yankees’ 1,243 games between 5-game skids from 1930-38,” she tweeted.

Going 934 games between 5+ game losing streaks is remarkable.
As you can see, several seasons went by since the last time Atlanta dropped five consecutive contests.
They have been so consistently good for so long that it’s hard to imagine them losing that many games in a row.
Baseball, however, always has some space for a surprise.
The 36-30 Braves are good, but they don’t look elite.
As a result, their presence in the postseason could be in jeopardy if they don’t do something about that offense.
They still have capable starters such as Chris Sale, Max Fried, and Charlie Morton, but Ronald Acuna Jr. is out for the year and only Marcell Ozuna has shown his true talent with the bat.
The rest of the offense is inconsistent, and Atlanta might need to swing a trade to get back on track.
