The Detroit Tigers surprised many in 2024 as they made the postseason for the first time since 2014 after finishing with a record of 86-76 and coming in second in the American League Central.

While just making the postseason was likely enough for Tigers fans, the team went above and beyond by knocking out the Houston Astros, who had made seven straight American League Championship Series appearances, in the wild-card round.

This offseason, the Tigers have made some notable improvements to their roster by adding second baseman Gleyber Torres, starting pitcher Alex Cobb and starting pitcher Jack Flaherty.

MLB analyst Buster Olney recently revealed the Tigers are pursuing another big-name player.

“After signing Jack Flaherty and augmenting their rotation, the Tigers are one of the teams pursuing Alex Bregman,” Olney wrote on X.

The Tigers appear to be making acquisitions with a win-now approach, and adding Bregman could be the final piece to that puzzle.

The third baseman has played all nine seasons of his MLB career with the Astros.

In 2024, he played in 145 games and batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .768 OPS.

The Tigers entered the postseason with a wild-card spot in 2024 and likely have their eyes on an AL Central title in 2025.

Although three teams from the division made the playoffs in 2024, the Tigers will likely have their best chance in a long time to take home the title.
