The Toronto Blue Jays reside in arguably one of the toughest divisions in all of Major League Baseball in the American League East.
With teams like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, and Baltimore Orioles, winning a division title is tough every single season.
While the Blue Jays haven’t won a division title since 2015, they are making moves this offseason to give themselves a better chance in 2025.
The Blue Jays have added some key pieces this offseason including outfielder Anthony Santander and pitcher Max Scherzer.
While those moves are good for the Blue Jays, MLB Analyst Keegan Matheson revealed the one piece they still need to add.
“If they were to go out, using Alonso as the best example, and add another big bat, suddenly this offense is capable of winning games too,” Matheson said via MLB Network on ‘X.’

Matheson believes that the Blue Jays need to add another big offensive weapon to their lineup, and then their team will be dangerous in 2025.
With free agents Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman still available, the Blue Jays have a couple of options if they choose to go down that route.
Alonso played in 162 games for the New York Mets in 2024 where he batted .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBIs, and a .788 OPS.
The Blue Jays will need some offensive firepower if they want to keep pace with teams like the Yankees and Red Sox and stay competitive in the AL East.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays pursue another big hitter before the start of the 2025 season.
