The Cincinnati Reds have not fared well over the past several seasons as they have one playoff appearance since 2014.

Last year was another tough season as they finished with a record of 77-85 and fourth in the National League Central.

The Reds are hopeful that their young and talented roster can take the next step and get the team back to a competitive level in 2025.

This offseason, the Reds have added a few players, including starting pitcher Brady Singer, second baseman Gavin Lux and catcher Jose Trevino.

The Reds also recently added an outfielder to their roster.

“Reds, OF Austin Hays agree to deal, per multiple reports including MLB Network insider Jon Heyman,” MLB wrote on X.

Hays came into the league in 2017 with the Baltimore Orioles and was acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2024 season.

In 2024 with the Orioles and Phillies, Hays played in 85 games and batted .255 with five home runs, 20 RBIs and a .699 OPS.

Although those numbers don’t jump off the page, he did hit double-digit home runs in three straight years with the Orioles, which suggests the power is there.

Hays failed to play more than 100 games for the first time since 2020, and if he can stay healthy, he should be an asset for this lineup.

The Reds are seeking their first NL Central title since 2012 and their first playoff appearance since 2020 as they prepare for the 2025 season.
