The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason for the first time in the past three seasons after finishing with a record of 74-88.
It was the first time since 2013 that the Blue Jays finished last in the American League East.
In a division with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, the Blue Jays have some top-end competition.
While the Blue Jays’ offseason has been underwhelming thus far, MLB insider Jon Heyman gave an update on their star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
“Don’t count on any Vlad trade (not too likely!) but if the Jays don’t up their offer (we are thinking $400M plus) there’s a decent chance he’ll be a free agent,” Heyman wrote on X.

Guerrero has been a staple in the Blue Jays lineup since coming into the league in 2019.
In 2024, Guerrero played 159 games and batted .323 with 30 home runs, 103 RBIs and a .940 OPS.
The Blue Jays are working on extending his contract before he becomes a free agent after this coming season, but Heyman reports that they need to offer more money to get that done.
While the likelihood of Guerrero being traded appears to be unlikely, the team would be losing one of the league’s best players if he were to walk after the season.
The Blue Jays need talent on their roster if they want to compete for a division title, as they haven’t won the AL East since 2015.
Guerrero will be a name to keep an eye on, even though he isn’t a free agent this offseason.
