The Detroit Tigers finished second in the American League Central with a record of 86-76, which was good enough to earn a wild-card spot in the playoffs.
Not only did the Tigers make the postseason for the first time since 2014, but they knocked off the Houston Astros in the wild-card series after the Astros made seven straight American League Championship Series appearances.
The Tigers proved that their young team is talented enough to contend with the best teams, and they are making moves this offseason to improve their roster even further.
After signing starting pitcher Alex Cobb earlier in the offseason, the Tigers made another move by signing infielder Gleyber Torres.
The addition of Torres reportedly will lead to some shuffling of the Detroit lineup this season.
“Tigers GM Scott Harris said that Gleyber Torres will be the everyday second baseman for the Tigers, and that Colt Keith will move over to first base,” FOX Sports: MLB wrote on X.

Torres played the first six seasons of his MLB career for the Yankees and recently excelled as their leadoff hitter.
In 2024, he played 154 games and batted .257 with 15 home runs, 63 RBIs and a .709 OPS.
Keeping Torres at second base will allow him to play his most familiar position.
The Tigers proved they can make the postseason, and now they will try to win their first AL Central title since 2014.
With the addition of Torres and Cobb, the Tigers will have a better chance to win a division that produced three playoff teams in 2024.
