The Houston Astros have been one of Major League Baseball’s best teams over the past decade with their stretch of seven straight American League Championship Series appearances.

In those seven straight ALCS appearances, the Astros managed to win two World Series titles in 2017 and 2022.

The streak came to an end in 2024 however as the Astros were swept in the wild-card series by the Detroit Tigers.

Now facing another dilemma, the Astros could have to part ways with their long-time veteran third baseman Alex Bregman who is a free agent this offseason.

According to B/R Walk-Off on ‘X,’ ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that the Astros don’t want to make Bregman an offer for over six years.

Bregman came into the league with the Astros in 2016 and has played all nine seasons of his MLB career with the organization.

While he was a key piece in their success over the past many seasons, Passan’s report suggests the Astros won’t be offering Bregman the contract that he is seeking.

It was previously thought that Bregman would likely return to the Astros, but with the new reports, that doesn’t sound like the case anymore.

Some other teams interested in Bregman include the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and New York Yankees.

Bregman had another solid year with the Astros in 2024 as he batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .768 OPS.

The Astros have already parted ways with one of their young superstars when they traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs, and now it appears they are on the verge of losing Bregman also.
