The Detroit Tigers got a taste of postseason baseball for the first time since 2014 as they finished with a record of 86-76 and made the playoffs via a wild-card spot.
Not only did the Tigers surprise everybody by making the postseason, but they swept the Houston Astros in the wild-card series.
Now that the Tigers experienced the feeling of being a winning organization, they are making moves this offseason to try and improve even more for the 2025 season.
The Tigers have added second baseman Gleyber Torres via free agency from the New York Yankees and starting pitcher Alex Cobb from the Cleveland Guardians.
Reports are saying that the Tigers are now all in on free agent third baseman Alex Bregman from the Astros, and MLB Analyst Xavier Scruggs revealed his thoughts on the reports.
“If you’re going to commit to moving Colt Keith to first base and have Gleyber Torres, you need Bregman,” Scruggs said via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.
Reports say the #Tigers are “all-in” on Alex Bregman.@Xavier_Scruggs: “Does that mean they’re willing to be the highest dollar?”

Scruggs believes if the Tigers are all in and willing to pay top dollar for Bregman, it would be a good move for them due to the consistency of Bregman’s game.
In 2024, Bregman played 145 games where he batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .768 OPS.
Bregman has been a staple in an Astros lineup that went to seven straight American League Championship Series, and you know what you’re going to get from him.
With Bregman being one of the top free agents remaining, the Tigers will be a team to keep an eye on to see if they can get a deal done.
