The Chicago Cubs missed the postseason for the fourth straight season after finishing with a record of 83-79, which was good enough for a second-place finish in the National League Central.

After winning the World Series in 2016, the Cubs have only advanced past the wild-card round once.

The Cubs entered the offseason with the goal of adding talent to their roster so they could challenge for a division title in 2025.

With the addition of Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros, the Cubs are off to a good start this offseason, and they have their eye on another free-agent infielder.

According to MLB Insider Mark Feinsand on ‘X,’ the Cubs are among the teams showing interest in infielder Josh Rojas from the Seattle Mariners.

Rojas came into the league in 2019 with the Arizona Diamondbacks where he played until going to the Mariners in 2023.

In 2024 with the Mariners, Rojas played in 142 games where he batted .225 with eight home runs, 31 RBIs, and a .641 OPS.

Feinsand notes the multiple positions that Rojas can play including second base, third base, shortstop, and both corner outfield positions.

The versatility of Rojas could be a major asset for the Cubs if they decide to pull the trigger on signing him this offseason.

While his offensive numbers don’t jump off the page, the utility defensive skills make Rojas noteworthy.

The Cubs hope to win their first NL Central title since 2020 and get the team over the hump and back into the postseason.

Rojas will be a name to keep an eye on as the offseason progresses for the Cubs.
