The Arizona Diamondbacks surprised everybody with their postseason run to the 2023 World Series.

However, they missed the postseason in 2024 despite finishing with a record of 89-73.

Residing in the National League West with the Los Angeles Dodgers is not an easy task, so the Diamondbacks need to add some talent this offseason to try to compete for a title.

So far, the Diamondbacks have signed starting pitcher Corbin Burnes from the Baltimore Orioles along with trading for first baseman Josh Naylor from the Cleveland Guardians.

MLB insider Steve Gilbert recently revealed what the Diamondbacks’ next move could be.

“It certainly seems like when you’re sitting there with seven starters like they are, that they could move one of those guys and maybe fill some other holes that they have,” Gilbert said, via MLB Network.

The Diamondbacks appeared to come out of nowhere with the signing of Burnes as many MLB analysts didn’t have them on the radar.

With the addition of Burnes, the Diamondbacks now have seven starting pitchers on their roster: Burnes, Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez, Brandon Pfaadt, Ryne Nelson and Jordan Montgomery.

Gilbert suggests that they could trade Montgomery, who had an underwhelming year in 2024, appearing in 25 games and going 8-7 with a 6.23 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 117.0 innings pitched.

The Diamondbacks could be just a few moves away from winning their first NL West title since 2011.
