The Juan Soto sweepstakes finally came to an end after the superstar outfielder signed a 15-year contract with the New York Mets worth $765 million.
After Soto signed, it was reported that he did not have any communication with his former teammates on the New York Yankees since the World Series.
While this was likely upsetting for the Yankees players and fans, an explanation for the lack of communication has been revealed.
“The reason there was no communication between Juan Soto and his former Yankee teammates simply is that Soto changed his cell phone number,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote on X. “He was bombarded by outside calls during his free agency and wanted privacy. Soto now is reaching out to former Yankee teammates.”

The reasoning for the lack of communication appears to make sense at first glance.
Soto was the No. 1 topic in the sport this offseason and desired some privacy.
The Yankees now have to get used to life without Soto, and they already have been making some moves following their failure to re-sign him.
After appearing in their first World Series since winning the title in 2009, the Yankees will attempt to make it back in 2025, but without one of their best players from 2024.
By not signing Soto, the Yankees have plenty of money to spend this offseason, and they have a few positions that could use some attention.
It will be interesting to see how the Yankees choose to attack the rest of the free agents.
