The New York Mets were arguably the biggest Cinderella team in the 2024 Major League Baseball postseason with their run to the National League Championship Series.
After a productive and somewhat surprisingly successful season, the Mets head into the offseason with a World Series title on their mind for 2025.
Rumors have been flying about the top free agent in this year’s class Juan Soto of the New York Yankees.
The Mets are a part of the most recent rumor as former MLB GM Jim Bowden revealed his thoughts on the reported contract the Mets offered Soto.
“If the Mets offered 15 years, $700 million, they are getting Juan Soto,” Bowden said via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.

Soto has been in the spotlight of MLB news as of late while baseball fans wait for his decision on where he will play in 2025.
Along with the Mets and Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays have also been in talks with Soto this offseason.
Bowden believes that if the Mets did offer that contract to Soto, then he would be a Met in 2025.
He also suggests that if they go to the $700 million mark, they will offer at least $701 million to ensure it is a record-setting contract after Shohei Ohtani signed for $700 million with the Dodgers last year.
The Soto sweepstakes continues to throw curveballs, and it will likely keep everybody on the edge of their seats until the decision is announced.
After an NLCS appearance in 2024, the Mets have their sights on appearing in their first World Series since 2015 next season.
