The tales of MLB superagent Scott Boras’ demise last offseason were greatly exaggerated.
He recently orchestrated the largest deal in professional sports history, helping Juan Soto land a 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets.
Boras is always a fun interview and is a master at building hype for his prospects through the media.
He recently hinted at another big move for the Mets, even after the Soto deal.
SNY Mets shared a clip of a recent Boras press conference on X where the agent said the Mets have made it clear to him and his agency that they aren’t limited to signing only one great player, noting “they’re going to be a very steady and heavy commitment to acquiring the best talent.”
Scott Boras says the Mets have made it very clear to him and his agency that they are not limited to signing only one great player, and will pursue multiple great players:

Even after landing Soto, the Mets still have plenty of money to spend now that some of their big contracts are off the books, such as those of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer.
The big question mark at this point is the status of Pete Alonso, who is still out on the open market.
It hasn’t been clear whether or not the Mets are serious about bringing their first baseman back, but he’d be the first name fans would think Boras is referring to with these comments.
The Mets could still be in on starting pitching help, and it’s clear owner Steve Cohen will spare no expense to build a contender, so no contract the Mets give out should be a surprise.
