The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason in 2024 after finishing with a record of 74-88.

It was their first season finishing last in the American League East since 2013, with their last division title coming in 2015.

The Blue Jays have made headlines lately due to reportedly being involved in the Juan Soto sweepstakes as they prepare for the 2025 season.

MLB Insider Buster Olney revealed what he’s heard about the Blue Jays this offseason.

“They’re going to do something big,” Olney said via Foul Territory on ‘X.’

The AL East is arguably the best division in all of Major League Baseball, and the Blue Jays need to make some moves to stay competitive with teams like the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Red Sox.

Olney mentions the Blue Jays’ involvement in the Soto sweepstakes, but he says he doesn’t believe Soto will end up signing with the team.

There are plenty of big-name players in this year’s free agent class, so even if the Blue Jays can’t reach a deal with Soto, there are many other players they could go after.

Olney also mentions that the Blue Jays reek of desperation, which is another reason he believes the team will be aggressive this offseason.

After appearing in the American League Championship Series in both 2015 and 2016, the Blue Jays have only made the postseason three times since which have all included them being swept in the wild-card round.

The Blue Jays will be a team to watch this offseason as they try to keep up with their competitors in the AL East.
