The Houston Astros’ streak of seven straight American League Championship Series appearances finally ended in 2024 when they lost in the wild-card round.
After that elimination by the Detroit Tigers, the Astros headed into the offseason not knowing if their longtime third baseman would be on the team in 2025.
Alex Bregman became a free agent this offseason and has yet to sign anywhere.
It was unclear how interested the Astros were about bringing back Bregman, but some information on that has been brought to light.

In a free-agent class filled with talent, Bregman is one of its biggest-name players.
He made his debut with the Astros in 2016 and has played all nine seasons of his MLB career with them.
The consistent hitter had another strong year for the Astros in 2024 as he batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .768 OPS.
With the reported offer, the Astros showed how much they want to bring back Bregman for the foreseeable future.
While it is unclear if Bregman wants to stay in Houston or not, the offer could give fans more clarity on where he stands.
A possibility is that Bregman doesn’t sign until the top free agent Juan Soto signs to see if any other teams make him a better offer.
