The Boston Red Sox missed the postseason for the third straight season in 2024 after finishing with a record of 81-81.

With their third-place finish in the American League East, the Red Sox broke their two-year streak of finishing dead last in one of the toughest divisions in all of baseball.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Red Sox will likely need to make some moves this offseason if they want to contend for a division title.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora sent a clear message about the Red Sox in 2025.

I do believe if we make the right moves, we add the right pieces, and we put a good plan together in spring training, we’re gonna be in the hunt,” Cora said via MLB Network on ‘X.’

The Red Sox have had some success in recent years as shown by their four World Series titles since 2004.

With a young and talented roster, Cora believes the team can contend for an AL East title in 2025 if they make the right moves this offseason.

In a division that includes the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, the Red Sox likely have to add some more talent if they want to contend.

The Red Sox were one of the teams in talks with the top free agent Juan Soto, but they did not end up signing him as Soto signed with the New York Mets.

Now that Soto is off the table, the Red Sox will have to look elsewhere to add offensive weapons to their lineup.

The Red Sox will be a team to watch as the offseason progresses to see how aggressive they will be.
