MLB Insider Reveals What The Red Sox Need To Do This Offseason

The Boston Red Sox play in the AL East, one of the toughest divisions in Major League Baseball.

In a division that includes the New York Yankees, the Red Sox must stay active in their player signings each year to keep up.

While the Red Sox have nine World Series titles in their history, they have not won one since 2018, which was also the last time they won the AL East.

MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal revealed what the Red Sox need to do this offseason to get the organization back to a competitive level against the Yankees.

“Ultimately, they need to find more balance,” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory.

Rosenthal mentions the need to add a right-handed bat who is as big a threat as Rafael Devers is from the left side of the plate.

The comparison Rosenthal makes is getting a Manny Ramirez-type player to match up with Devers like Ramirez did with David Ortiz.

Devers came into the league in 2017 and has played all eight years of his career with the Red Sox.

Though he plays third base, there is some discussion within the Red Sox organization to move him to first base.

A possible move that Rosenthal mentions is adding right-handed hitting veteran Nolan Arenado to play third base if they do move Devers to first.

It is safe to say that Rosenthal believes the Red Sox need to add another big piece to their offense this offseason, whether that is Arenado or someone else.
