Former GM Reveals How The Blue Jays Can Sell Juan Soto In Free Agency

The 2024 Major League Baseball season is now over as the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series over the New York Yankees.

Now that the season has concluded, attention will be turned to the free agent class that is headlined by Yankees star outfielder Juan Soto.

Many teams are reportedly interested in Soto including the Yankees, Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays.

Steve Phillips, former General Manager of the Mets, revealed how the Blue Jays can sell themselves to Soto this offseason.

“You are going to be historic and legendary and iconic in a country.  You will be beloved in an entire country,” Phillips said.

The Blue Jays are the only MLB team to reside in Canada, and Phillips believes they should try to sell Soto on being an MLB legend to an entire country instead of just a city or state in the United States.

Soto just completed his first season as a Yankee where he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and a .989 OPS.

With so many big market teams giving their pitches to Soto, Phillips thinks the Blue Jays should use being the only Canadian team to their advantage.

All of the teams will try and sell Soto on being a winning organization and a contender for a World Series, but the Blue Jays will have an entire country behind them.

It will be interesting to see how the Soto sweepstakes plays out and whether or not the Blue Jays remain in the mix as the offseason moves along.
