The New York Mets finished off the 2024 season with a record of 89 wins and 73 losses.

Their Cinderella postseason run eventually flamed out against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, but they defeated the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies as underdogs in their first two series.

Now that the Mets got a taste of a deep postseason run, they will turn their attention to the offseason where the free agent class is filled with big-time players.

The Mets have already made a trade to acquire an outfielder from the Tampa Bay Rays.

According to MLB’s Anthony DiComo, the Mets acquired outfielder Jose Siri from the Rays for relief pitcher Eric Orze.

Siri came into the league in 2021 with the Houston Astros and has played the last two full seasons of his career with the Rays.

In 2024, Siri played in 130 games where he batted .187 with 18 home runs, 47 RBIs, and a .620 OPS.

Siri showed his ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark even though his average was sub-200.

The Mets traded Orze to acquire Siri who is 27 years old but only appeared in two games for the Mets in 2024.

In those two appearances, Orze threw 1.2 innings allowing three hits, four earned runs, and two walks while striking out 1 for an ERA of 21.60.

The Mets have already locked in their first move of the offseason, but they will have their eyes on the trophy prize of Juan Soto who they are pursuing to sign from the New York Yankees.
