The Minnesota Twins finished the 2024 season with a record of 82 wins and 80 losses, which gave them a fourth-place finish in the American League Central.
In a division that was responsible for three playoff teams in 2024, the Twins were not one of them as they just missed the last wild-card spot in the American League.
As the Twins prepare for the 2025 season and attempt to get back into the postseason, their General Manager Jeremy Zoll says that prospect Emmanual Rodriguez could have a big role next year.
“He’ll have a real chance to contribute here at some point next season,” Zoll said.
“Emmanuel Rodriguez will have a real chance to contribute [in the majors] next season.”
Rodriguez is a 21-year-old outfielder who is considered a five-tool player and could make an impact in the MLB as early as next season.
In 2024, Rodriguez played for four different teams and combined to bat .280 with nine home runs, 27 RBIs, and a 1.026 OPS in 47 games.
Zoll mentions that they want to ensure Rodriguez can stay healthy and be on the field as much as possible when he does make the jump to the Major Leagues.
The Twins won the AL Central in 2023, and they will try to get back to being division champions in 2025 after missing the postseason in 2024.
With three World Series titles in franchise history, the Twins haven’t won a title since 1991, which was the last time they appeared in the final series of the season.
