The Baltimore Orioles finished the 2024 season with a second-place finish in the American League East with a record of 91 wins and 71 losses.
Although the Orioles made the postseason for the second straight season, they lost their first series again in the wild-card round to the Kansas City Royals.
Over the past two postseasons, the Orioles have not won a game and have been swept in both series they have played.
According to MLB Analyst Anthony Castrovince, the Orioles need to be extremely aggressive this offseason.
The Orioles have appeared to be dominant at times in the regular season over the last two years, but they have flamed out in the playoffs.
Two-star players from the 2024 Orioles roster are set to be free agents this offseason including Anthony Santander and Corbin Burnes.
Castrovince points out that the Orioles have a deep farm system with plenty of talent, and they need to take advantage of their winning window.
He suggests either signing Burnes again or possibly signing another free agent starting pitcher such as Blake Snell.
The Orioles have three World Series titles in their franchise history, but they haven’t won one since 1983, which was the last time they appeared in one.
There appears to be plenty of free agent talent in this year’s free agent class, and Castrovince believes the Orioles need to be aggressive in signing some of these players.
After winning the AL East in 2023, the Orioles will look to take back the division from the New York Yankees in the 2025 season.
