The Philadelphia Phillies won the National League East with a record of 95-67 in 2024.
Although they won the division, the Phillies were upset by the rival New York Mets in the NLDS, their first round of the postseason.
After making the World Series in 2022 and the NLCS in 2023, losing in the NLDS likely feels like a disappointing season for the club.
Ahead of the 2025 season, the Phillies are making some front-office moves, including a new general manager.
Philadelphia named Preston Mattingly, son of former AL MVP Don Mattingly, to the position, via Ty Daubert.
Phillies say GM Sam Fuld will transition into president of business operations in 2026.

Don Mattingly played his entire 14-season MLB career with the New York Yankees from 1982 until 1995, where he was a six-time All-Star and won AL MVP in 1985.
He is also well known for managing the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2011 to 2015, and the Miami Marlins from 2016 to 2022.
The Phillies appeared to be close to breaking through for another World Series championship after their performances in 2022 and 2023.
With a roster including superstar players such as Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber, the Phillies seemed to be a favorite to win the title in 2024.
The upset loss to the Mets in the NLDS may have triggered some of these moves, and the Phillies hope it will benefit the organization in the future.
With their last World Series title coming in 2008, the Phillies will try to repeat as NL East champs and make a deeper run in the postseason in 2025.
