Alex Bregman Is Reportedly Open To A Position Change

The Houston Astros’ streak of seven straight ALCS appearances ended this season when they were swept in the wild-card round.

After winning the AL West for the fourth straight year, the Astros were eliminated by the Detroit Tigers.

Now that the season is complete, one long-time Astros star has hit free agency and potentially will play for someone other than Houston in 2025.

Heading to the open market, third baseman Alex Bregman appears willing to change his position to the other side of the diamond, according to his agent.

“Scott Boras said Bregman is willing to move to second base next season,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today said, via B/R Walk-Off.

Bregman had another solid regular season with the Astros in 2024, batting .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .768 OPS.

After playing for the Astros his entire career since his MLB debut in 2016, it would be strange to see him in any other uniform come the 2025 season.

Bregman won two World Series titles as a member of the Astros, in 2017 and 2022.

The news that he is willing to switch positions could mean he has been in talks with a team that is not seeking a third baseman.

Bregman is one of many big-name players testing free agency this offseason, and he will be one Astros fans will likely keep a close eye on.
