The Philadelphia Phillies made the postseason for the third straight year in 2024 after finishing with a record of 95 wins and 67 losses and winning the National League East.

Although they made the playoffs for the third straight year, it was their earliest exit of the three years as they lost to the New York Mets in the National League Division Series.

The star power of the Phillies is undeniable with the likes of Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber all in their lineup.

Phillies owner John Middleton revealed his thoughts on his team’s NLDS loss and how angry it made him.

“We need to learn from the NLDS loss to the New York Mets.  I think some old dogs need to learn new tricks,” Middleton said.

John Middleton was angry in the immediate aftermath of the Phillies’ NLDS exit. He still is.

Middleton appears to be irritated that his team lost to the Mets in the NLDS and it could be due to the Phillies scoring two or fewer runs in all three of their losses in the series.

The Phillies’ offense disappeared in their losses to the Mets even with the star power in their lineup.

Middleton could be referring to his team’s dependence on the long ball to score and hinting that they need to be able to score runs with other methods.

Although the Phillies made an early postseason exit in 2024, they last appeared in the World Series in 2022 and last won the title in 2008.

The Phillies will look to regroup this offseason as they prepare for another shot at their third World Series title in franchise history.
