With the Major League Baseball season officially over after the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series, all eyes will now turn to the offseason.
Some big-time names will hit free agency this offseason, and Corbin Burnes headlines the free-agent starting pitchers that could potentially change teams before 2025.
Burnes came into the league in 2018 with the Milwaukee Brewers where he pitched six seasons, and just completed his first season with the Baltimore Orioles.
Major League Baseball analyst Jim Duquette believes that Burnes would be a great fit for one specific team next season.
“Burnes would be a great fit for the Chicago Cubs,” Duquette said.
“This team needs a jolt.”

Burnes had a solid year for the Orioles in 2024 as he started 32 games and had a record of 15 wins and nine losses with a 2.92 earned run average and 181 strikeouts in 194.1 innings pitched.
Duquette believes that Burnes would be a great fit to join the Cubs who already have Shota Imanaga, Justin Steele, and Javier Assad in their starting rotation.
Burnes has been the ace of each team that he has played on thus far in his career, and Duquette believes the Cubs are in need of a legit ace pitcher.
The Cubs have not won the National League Central since 2020, and they were eliminated from the playoffs after being swept in the wild-card round by the Miami Marlins.
Burnes will be a name to watch this offseason, and the Cubs could potentially make a run at signing the ace starting pitcher.
