Blue Jays Could Reportedly Consider Shocking Deadline Strategy

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a rough season to this point.

By win-loss record, they are still relatively “salvageable” at 21-25, but circumstances make the situation a bit more serious.

They play in perhaps the most competitive division in baseball, the AL East, and are already 10.5 games behind the leaders, the New York Yankees.

At -40, they currently boast the third-worst run differential in the American League, a shocking development for a team that has been a playoff contender for the last few years.

Their current situation, at least according an MLB insider, is making them consider their options around the trade deadline.

There is still a lot of baseball to play until that point, but the Blue Jays have probably reached a point in which they need to consider every scenario.

“I don’t think they’re opposed to it.”

Once upon a time, not so long ago, the concept of the Blue Jays potentially trading Bichette or Guerrero was almost laughable.

They are considered franchise cornerstones, still to this day.

However, Toronto does have some aging stars (Kevin Gausman, George Springer come to mind) and neither Guerrero nor Bichette are performing as they usually do.

They have to consider offers, though, because the idea isn’t selling low on any of them.

Of course, they could render this all moot if they start to play better, more on par with their talent, and win some games to climb up in the standings.

Still, there is a non-zero chance Toronto becomes a seller come the deadline.
