The Tampa Bay Rays have seemingly always done a great job of developing their players.
We rarely see them spend big in free agency, and when they make trades, it is to acquire prospects for proven MLB players.
One player they have high hopes for is starting pitcher Taj Bradley.
He was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball last season.
But, the results were not great in his rookie year.
Still, Bradley has all the ability to be a good starter for a long time.
Yet, he has to stay healthy to reach his full potential.
According to Jayson Stark, Bradley was scratched from his spring training start on Tuesday due to pectoral tightness.
The Rays say Taj Bradley was scratched from his start today with pectoral tightness.
He’s getting an MRI.
The team expects to know more tomorrow.
This is the last thing the Rays wanted to have happen.
Whenever a pitcher suffers an injury to his throwing arm, it is cause for concern.
Rays fans will be holding their breath until the results of the MRI get released.
Ideally, Bradley will not miss an extended period with this injury.
The Rays need all the starting pitchers they can get after trading Tyler Glasnow this offseason.
They have high hopes that Bradley can slide into their rotation.
One thing about the Rays is that they always find a way to adjust.
Even if Bradley is not ready to begin the season, they will find someone else to step up.
Tampa Bay does a great job getting the best out of their players and that is why they are consistently in the playoff race.
Even if their roster is not loaded on paper, the Rays should once again be good in 2024.
