The San Francisco Giants did everything in their power to bring in some impact talent in the offseason.

They were able to sign Jung Hoo Lee, Jorge Soler, Matt Chapman, Jordan Hicks, and Blake Snell, the latter being secured very late into spring training.

Snell didn’t open the season on the active roster, but worked hard to stay ready and eventually joined the staff.

The early results to his Giants career hadn’t been encouraging, but just when he was starting to build up some stamina and feel comfortable on the mound, an injury will take at least a few weeks of his season.

The former AL and NL Cy Young award winner has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left adductor strain.

The type of injury suggests that he really needs to take it easy on his rehab if he doesn’t want to re-aggravate it.

Snell had made three starts with San Francisco, all losses: he was 0-3 with a 11.57 ERA, a 1.97 WHIP, and a 12/5 K/BB ratio.

He will eventually be fine and resemble the pitcher who has won not one, but two Cy Young awards.

He just needs reps and innings to get comfortable again on the mound with his mechanics.

Well, that was before his injury: now, he needs some time to fully recover.

The Giants have been enduring lots of injuries and this one certainly hurts.

Snell, a candidate for a lucrative long-term deal after the 2023 campaign, had to settle for a two-year, $62 million deal after his agency completely botched his market.
