The National League East has been the domain of the Atlanta Braves seemingly forever, but that status is wildly different so far in 2024.
With MLB in the All-Star Break, it’s the Philadelphia Phillies who have a stranglehold on the division.
The Phils are a baseball-best 62-34, and their lead over second-place Atlanta is 8.5 games.
Former star pitcher Adam Wainwright knows a thing or two about successful hurlers, and he is very impressed with what Philadelphia can trot out to the mound night after night.
Wainwright told Colin Cowherd that the Phillies are almost impossible to beat at the most critical position in professional baseball – starting pitcher.
“They have the best starting rotation in all of baseball…They’re gonna be very, very hard to beat, if beatable at all.”

It is no secret to baseball fans that Zach Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez are dominating major league lineups, and that is by design.
The team worked hard in recent years to fight off suitors who attempted to pluck away their starters one by one, and re-signing them led to this current impressive run of success.
Wheeler, Suarez and Sanchez each sport ERAs under 3.00, and each was selected for the All-Star Game.
Is it any wonder the Phillies are attempting to wrap up the East by August?
Wainwright is absolutely correct; the starting five is the best in baseball.
And while anything, including unforeseen injuries, may happen, Philadelphia is unquestionably the best team in baseball at the moment and should already be gearing up for the postseason.
