The Oakland Athletics’ future is tied to Las Vegas.
However, to play there, they need to finish building a stadium and that isn’t expected to be the case before 2028.
Their home games were initially expected to be in multiple locations, with Salt Lake City, Sacramento, and even San Francisco being options.
Now, however, it was announced that Sacramento will host A’s games from 2025 to 2027, with an option to extend the pact to 2028.
They will use Sutter Health Park.
Sutter Health Park is where the Sacramento River Cats play: they are the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A affiliate.
From 2000 to 2019, the stadium was known as Raley Field.
According to MLB and fantasy analyst Chris Clegg, it could play as a hitter-friendly venue during its time as an MLB park.
He offered more details:
“The A’s will be playing in Sacramento in Sutter Health Park from 2025-2027. The stadium can seat over 14,000 people. Dimensions: RF: 330 ft CF: 403 ft RF: 325 ft. In terms of PCL standards its more of a pitcher park, but considering all MiLB parks, it plays pretty hitter friendly,” he tweeted.

The Pacific Coast League (PCL) is notoriously hitter-friendly, so that’s why Sutter Health Park is considered more of a pitcher’s park compared to the average offensive environment in the circuit.
However, MLB offers a different run-scoring environment.
Therefore, the stadium and the dimensions could make it more favorable to help hitters as opposed to pitchers.
Will fans in Sacramento fill the stadium?
It’s definitely an interesting question amid the anger and disappointment that A’s fans in Oakland are feeling.
For three years, Sacramento will host an MLB team.
These are the things that MLB allows to happen these days.
