Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon opened the season with five-straight hitless games.
Controversial as he is, he was being criticized by fans and media for his performance.
Then he found his niche at the top of the Angels lineup: his power has dissipated over time, but he still has excellent plate discipline.
Just when he was starting to settle down, he gets injured and is forced to miss some time.
The guy might not be the biggest baseball fan out there, but he was trying and actually being a good leadoff hitter in recent games.
He just can’t catch a break.
“Anthony Rendon is back on the IL with a left hamstring strain, the Angels announce. The Angels never really addressed their infield depth issues this offseason. Surprising for a team that said it wanted to complete. It’s left them in a precarious position,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

Blum reported Rendon’s injury and also commented on the Angels’ lack of planning in the offseason.
For a team that wanted to compete, they sure didn’t address their infield depth issues and were an injury away from chaos.
Well, the injury has now occurred, and they will be forced to field a subpar unit for the foreseeable future.
Ehire Adrianza was selected from Triple-A to replace Rendon on the active roster.
Miguel Sano, who is hitting .300 with a home run so far, could see an uptick in playing time.
As for Rendon, who is hitting .267/.325/.307 for the season, he will need to be on the shelf for a minimum of two weeks.
It’s unclear if he will be ready by then.
