Astros Highlight Monumental Moment For Women In MLB

In a game historically dominated by men, everything a woman achieves and any position they earn in MLB thanks to their skill and knowledge should be celebrated.

Each year we see more female executives, managers, and coaches.

It’s time for the broadcast world to add talented female voices, too.

That’s what happened with the Houston Astros and the Oakland Athletics.

“A win for ALL women. Julia Morales and Jenny Cavnar are making history. For the first time in a regular season game, the home and road television broadcasts feature two female play-by-play announcers,” the Astros tweeted.

A win for ALL women.

Morales is a native Texan who has been a part of the Astros broadcast team for 12 years.

She is a known presence on Astros pre and postgame shows.

Morales has won four Emmy Awards and is one of the most accomplished women in her field.

As for Cavnar, she opened the 2024 campaign as the Athletics play-by-play announcer.

She became the first woman to be a primary play-by-play announcer for an MLB team in history.

Cavnar is in a play-by-play rotation with Chris Caray on the A’s, but she has the majority of games and has become a knowledgeable voice in the broadcasting community.

Cavnar and Morales have been known for making their own way with talent and determination, and they will be behind a monumental moment in the history of American sports.

They have become role models for women behind them who dream of being broadcasters, and can be considered pioneers in their area.
