The Chicago White Sox are coming off one of the worst seasons in Major League Baseball history in 2024.

After finishing with a record of 41 wins and 121 losses, the White Sox are in search of a new Manager ahead of the 2025 season.

It appeared that there were three candidates for the job including Will Venable, Phil Nevin, and interim Manager Grady Sizemore.

One of these three appears to have emerged as the favorite to become the next Manager of the White Sox.

According to Jon Heyman on ‘X,’ the White Sox are taking a hard look at Texas Rangers bench coach Will Venable for the job.

White Sox are taking a hard look at Rangers bench coach Will Venable. No word it’s done or close yet, or even that he’s certain to accept if offered. He’s turned down many previous opportunities.

Heyman points out that nothing is saying a deal is done or even close to being done, but the White Sox appear very interested in Venable.

Venable has turned down various other opportunities for unknown reasons, so it will be interesting to see if they can come to a deal.

The White Sox had the most losses in all of baseball in 2024 and missed the postseason for the third straight year.

Three teams out of the White Sox division made the postseason in 2024 including the Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, and Kansas City Royals.

In order for the White Sox to be competitive in what appears to be a tough American League Central division, they will need to make some major changes ahead of 2025.

Although they are coming off their worst season in franchise history, the White Sox won the AL Central just four years ago in 2021.
