The Detroit Tigers are arguably the biggest Cinderella story to come out of this Major League Baseball postseason.
At one point in the regular season, the Tigers were eight games under the .500 mark, and it appeared their postseason hopes were dead.
Not only did the Tigers sneak their way into the postseason, but they knocked off the Houston Astros who have made seven straight American League Championship Series appearances.
A big reason for this Tigers team’s success was their ace pitcher Tarik Skubal, and he revealed his thoughts on the Tigers’ playoff run this season.
“There was no expectations for us, so we’re just going to go out there and win,” Skubal said.

Skubal is only 27 years old, but he was considered a veteran on this young Tigers team.
The Tigers made their first postseason and American League Division Series appearance since 2014 after missing the playoffs nine straight seasons.
Skubal appears to be the front-runner to win the American League Cy Young Award, and he was dominant for most of the postseason.
His regular season stats included a record of 18 wins and four losses with a 2.39 earned run average and 228 strikeouts in 192.0 innings pitched.
The dominant regular season poured over into the postseason where he started three games and had a 2.37 earned run average with 20 strikeouts in 19.0 innings pitched.
Although the Tigers lost to the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS, they brought them to five games before eventually falling short.
The Tigers and their young lineup will look to replicate their success as they prepare for the 2025 season.
