Red Sox Hire New Assistant Hitting Coach

The Boston Red Sox missed the 2024 postseason as they finished with a record of 81 wins and 81 losses.

Their .500 record resulted in a third-place finish in the American League East and a third straight year of missing the playoffs.

As the Red Sox watch their rivals the New York Yankees play in the World Series, they are preparing for the 2025 season.

The Red Sox are already making coaching staff changes as they announced a new assistant hitting coach on Sunday.

According to Red Sox on ‘X,’ Dillon Lawson has been hired as Assistant Hitting Coach for the 2025 season.

Lawson spent the 2024 season in the Red Sox organization as the minor league hitting coordinator.

Before coming to the Red Sox, Lawson spent five seasons with the Yankees and two seasons with the Houston Astros in various positions.

Lawson will join the Major League Club’s coaching staff for 2025 as they look to challenge the Yankees in the American League East.

The Red Sox last won a World Series in 2018 when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to one.

Since that World Series title, the Red Sox have only made the postseason one time, and they have been unable to win the American League East.

Lawson will now work with sluggers Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers, and company as they look to give their offense a boost in 2025.

The Red Sox have nine World Series titles in franchise history, and they will look to make a run for their tenth in 2025 as they come off their .500 record.
