Insider Names 3 Candidates In Mix For White Sox Manager Job

The Chicago White Sox are coming off their worst season in franchise history.

They won only 41 games in 2024 while losing a whopping 121 games, which was by far the worst record in Major League Baseball.

Ahead of the 2025 season, the White Sox will hire a new manager in hopes of turning things around and leaving the 2024 season behind them.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the three candidates that remain in the mix for the job include Phil Nevin, Will Venable, and Grady Sizemore.

George Lombard is out of White Sox mix. Nevin, Venable, Sizemore among known candidates.

Pedro Grifol was the Manager of the White Sox in 2023 and part of 2024 before being fired and replaced by Sizemore for the remainder of the season.

Sizemore played 10 seasons in the MLB before becoming the White Sox interim Manager in 2024.

Nevin managed the Los Angeles Angels in 2022 and 2023 and is believed to be in the mix for the White Sox job.

Venable is currently on the staff of the Texas Rangers and is the third candidate for the position.

The White Sox’s decision on who they hire will be something to watch this offseason as they look to bounce back in the 2025 season.

Whoever takes the job will have their work cut out for them as three of the five American League Central teams made the postseason in 2024.

The White Sox appear to need to make some moves this offseason to get their lineup to a competitive level.

They will look to make their way back to the playoffs in 2025 as they have not made the postseason since 2021 when they won the American League Central.
